Rafa Zubiría

http://www.rafazubiria.es/files/gimgs/11_rafa-zubiria.jpg

This series of images was created by Spanish artist and photographerRafa Zubirà a - they beautifully blurry, and almost mundane (were it not for the impossible way the structures hover in the sky), featuring generic housing blocks and nondescript townhomes.

PHATCAT BAND OF THE MONTH : San Cisco - Awkward

Genre: Indie, Pop
Region: Perth, WA
Members: Jordi & Josh & Nick & Scarlett
Sounds Like: Bright Eyes, The Drums, vampire weekend
Influences: MGMT, vampire weekend, flaming lips
Artist Website: www.myspace.com/sancisco

remantle based indie-poppers San Cisco deliver tunes with a rough low-fi garage pop energy & continue to impress with their bright catchy hooks & depth of song writing.

They have recently recorded their second EP in Melbourne with super producer Steven Schram (Little Red, Cat Empire, Little Birdy) The first single is called Awkward, it was written in the studio one afternoon and features the vocal debut of drummer Scarlett Stevens. Awkward is a kooky call & response between Scarlett & Jordi – all fictional, of course!

San Cisco have had a busy 2011, showcasing at both FUSE Festival in Adelaide and BIGSOUND in Brisbane. Along with some tip top performances at Big Day Out, Laneway & Groovin’ the Moo, San Cisco enjoyed supporting Architecture in Helsinki, The Grates, Jebediah & Kimbra.

Their debut EP Golden Revolver has received glowing reviews in Australia & internationally, with single Golden Revolver played on radio stations all over the country & throughout the USA. They had a saucy video clip made in New York City for their second single Girls Do Cry.

San Cisco are looking forward to Jordi finishing high school in November, some awesome gigs in December touring with Emma Louise in WA & hitting the East Coast for Peats Ridge Festival.

Anyone trying to raise money for a Kickstarter project knows that it is critical to make a good (or funny!) first impression, with, say, a bold cheeseburger-style set of wrapping papers for instance.rom its creators: “We created this project to launch Gift Couture, a creative and innovative wrapping paper company. Gift Couture will offer high-quality wrapping paper sets that feature original photography and design. Our main goal is to produce unique papers that coordinate together into conceptualized themes and sets.”

Femke Hiemstra

My work is usually about stories featuring anthropomorphized animals (or inanimates) and sometimes my inspiration simply comes from the wish to paint a certain fauna member. I prefer cats, closely followed by dogs, birds, and insects. And some species play a very small role in my work. Like fish, for example. But that changed when a new idea for a painting popped before my minds eye. And not just one fish, I imagined a whole posse! I'm still working on it but wanted to share this Pike and Barbel detail.
